Grain

We weren't able to find the books we were looking for at our library this week so, with the help of our amazing librarians, we adapted our curriculum and did Cook-a-Doodle-Doo! instead of Little Red Hen and Make Me a Peanut Butter Sandwich and a Glass of Milk instead of Grains to Bread. We are so lucky to have really wonderful children's librarians here. They are so generous with their time and obviously so in love with both children's literature as well as children.

As we all know, the Little Red Hen of yore makes bread from scratch. In Cook-a-Doodle-Doo!, the Little Red Hen's great-great-grandrooster makes a strawberry shortcake with his various friends. Our Red Hen-inspired baking adventure was a pound cake which was my first time using a bundt pan. I borrowed the pan from a friend but now I really want one. The cake was so pretty!

We will be talking about leaves this week which is perfect timing because we just had a lovely cabin adventure with friends this last weekend with a leaf hike that was the apex of the weekend.

The blog has been really helpful for me with staying on track with our curriculum. We're halfway through our fall semester already!

What a lovely weekend!
I so miss the Coralville Library-the one here is good too, but I think there's another reason behind why I miss it so much (:

The Coralville Library is fantastic! I was so excited to see that they are coordinating with the HSAP to do some classes for homeschoolers.

I really can't imagine the downtown library doing something like that.

Stephany- I didn't know that the CPL is partnering with the HSAP! That makes me love them even more. I love the IC library too but I have a special fondness for CPL.

K- we think of you every time we're at the library. Lots of fun times together there. <3
